I have focused my talents on the art of paper cutting since 2008.  I turned all my attention to 
                                                this art form because I was drawn to the bold imagery of the paper cut silhouette and the  intriguing shadows they cast. My whimsical designs begin by sketching an idea  and giving it a sense of movement and playfulness . I will then draw the image on the back of the paper that is to be cut.   Using a scissor or knife blade I will carefully cut away the paper to reveal the image.  I am inspired by the German paper cut art Scherenschnitte (pronounced: sharon-SNIT-tah) 
Ideas for my art stem from the storybooks my mother read to me as a child, my travels near and far, a vivid imagination and sense of wry humor. 
       
                    Greeting cards and prints are made by taking a  photograph of the finished art  and are then  reformatted  on the computer where color and type are sometimes added.  All printing is done in the U.S.A
       
                The original art is usually mounted in a deep frame up off the background to create a play  of shadows.  I am self taught in this discipline and continue to experiment with new materials and styles.
