My prototype "Poppy Pin"

Picture
This is a brooch made using a paper cut bird and fimo clay and a wonderful luster gloss

It measures about 2" round and has a pin back.   Looking forward to experimenting more!

A paper cut I just finished for my upcoming art show "Rock, Paper Scissors" at Gallery Sim in Pittsburgh's North Side.  I later added painted rice paper

"Making Cider"                                                                          October /2009

I Love  autumn  and wanted to do a paper cut that depicts the season.  I designed this one specifically for a line of jewelry I am going to do.

Sketch of the Old City                                                               July / 2009

This is a sketch of the paper cut I am working on now.  It is the buildings in the "Old City" located in Baku (population 4 million)  I wanted to make them sort of whimsical by curving them outwards a bit.

The building in the middle is called Maiden's Tower

Maidens Tower

Picture
This unusual building was constructed in the 12th century.
There are different stories about the building, one concerning a maiden who threw herself off its top, to her death in the waves below. (She did not want to marry a certain someone)

The Maiden Tower is a noted landmark and one of Azerbaijan's most distinctive national emblems. It is featured on Azeri currency notes and other official pieces of paper...

and now is in one of Kathryn's art works!

I've started to cut some of the layers.   I am holding a street sweeper.

I draw and cut on the opposite side  then I'll flip it over when it's done.

Almost finished cutting ...still going to add some details
